The territory capital of the Australian Capital Territory (A.C.T.) is Canberra. This is also Australia's national capital.
Smallest of all states and territories the weather is very "flexible", i.e. cold, windy and hailing followed by hot sunshine followed by a thunderstorm.It truely is a mix of everything in Australia.
Summer temperatures can range from 15 to 35 degrees Celcius, while Winter temperatures can be as low as minus 5 to only 5 degrees Celcius in the daytime.

The state capital of New South Wales (N.S.W.) is Sydney with other major cities including Newcastle, Wollongong, Queanbeyan.
The most populus of all states and territories the weather varies with location:
cold in the Blue Mountains and skifields, warmer at costal regions.
Summer temperatures range from 15 to 35 degrees Celcius in the costal regions, 5 to 35 degrees Celcius in the mountains. Winter temperatures range from 0 to 20 degrees Celcius near the coastand minus 15 to 5 degrees Celcius in the mountains.
Country N.S.W. contains the Riverina district close to Sydney, a large aricultural area that produces wine, fruit, wheat, wool and silver.It also has several national and state parks which provide a safe habitat for some of Australia's most famous animals

The Northern Territory (N.T.) capital is Darwin with the other major city being Alice Springs which is located in the centre of Australia.
The Northern Territory is the larger of the two territories and like the ACT has a large area of its land reserved as a natural heritage/wildlife park.
The weather in Darwin is hot and humid in the summer with teperatures ranging from 25 to 45 degrees Celcius. While the Winter months are hot and dry with temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celcius. Alice Springs being further south has a much more mild climate although the summer can be as hot as 45 degrees celcius.
Approximately 80% of the Northern Territory is desert or a semi arid monsoonal landscape with major products being natural minerals, uranium and cattle.

The Queensland (Qld.) state capital is Brisbane with other major cities including Rockhampton, Cairns and Townsville.
Queensland is Australia's second largest state and is the major destination for international holiday makers.Queensalnd includes the world famous holiday resort known as the Gold Coast as well as other famous destinations being Cairns and Port Douglas.
The weather is a warm sub-tropical climate in the south to a hot tropical climate in the north. Summer temperatures can range from 25 to 40 degrees Celcius and Winter temperatures can range from 5 to 25 degrees Celcius.
Queensland produces lots of fruits and vegetables due to its warm climate with its major produces being pineapple, sugar, tropical friuts, sheep, cattle, cotton and coal.

The South Austrtalian (S.A.) state capital is Adelaide with other cities including Hahndorf, Mount Gambier and Whyalla.
South Australia has a high european influence which is shown throughout its buildings and landscapes.
The weather is "average" to hot with summer temperatures ranging from 15 to 45 degrees Celcius. Winter temperatures are cooler with an average of minus 5 to 25 degrees Celcius. A Large portion of the state is desert or semi - arid areas with very few people.
South Australia produces some of the worlds most famous wines with the Barossa Valley area only a short drive from Adelaide. Other major produces include sheep and wheat.

The capital city of Tasmania (Tas.) is Hobart with the other major city being Launceston on the north coast.

The weather is mostly cold with summer temperatures ranging from 10 to 30 degrees Celcius while Winter temperatures can be as low as minus 10 degrees Celcius to only a maximum of 5 degrees Celcius in the daytime.
With a large portion of the state reserved as National Parks or other wilderness areas, Tasmania provides tourists with some of the most natural scenery in Australia.
Tasmania is known for producing fine wines, fine foods and fish.

The Victorian (Vic) state capital is Melbourne with other major cities including Ballarat and Bendigo, made famous for the Gold that was found there last century as well as Geelong which is a mjor shipping port south of Melbourne.
Victoria is Australia's second smallest state however is the second most populus.
The weather is notoriously rainy and is generally a coolto cold climatein winter with a very hot and dry summer.
Summer temperatures range from 15 to 38 degrees Celcius while winter temperatures can range from minus 10 to 15 degrees Celcius, especially in the mountains and snow fields.
Often known as the cultural centre of Australia Victoria and in particular Melbourne boasts some of the finest restaurants and shopping in Australia as well as world class museums and art galleries.
Victoria produces high class wines, high - tech goods, manufactured goods and timber.

The West Australian (W.A.) state capital is Perth with other major cities being Freemantle and Kalgoorlie.
